EVIDENCE BROUGHT TO ASK FOR HELP FROM THE DEAD...

The hadith attributed to Prophet Muhammed, "When you are confused about what to do in your affairs, seek help from the inhabitants of the graves," unfortunately contradicts many verses in the Quran yet is presented to people as evidence.

So what is the source of this saying? It can be found in the book "Kashf al-Hafa" by Acluni, who is considered a great scholar of Hadith.

Abu'l-Fida Ismail b. Muhammad al-Acluni (d. 1749) wrote this work, whose full title is "Kashf al-Hafa wa Muzf al-Ilbas amma 'shtahara min al-Ahadith ala alsinat al-Nas," with the aim of determining which of the narrations widely known as hadith among the people are authentic hadiths and which are fabricated narrations, aphorisms, proverbs, and wise sayings. In the preface to his work, Acluni emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between authentic and inauthentic narrations in religion and stresses that a study serving as a reference source in this field is a religious duty.

The page in question is as follows. The relevant footnote explains everything. Footnote: According to Ibn Taymiyyah, this hadith is a lie and slander fabricated in the name of the Prophet, by the consensus of hadith scholars, and has not been narrated by any scholar and is not found in any reliable hadith book...

We found Turkish translation of related book. The page where the hadith is found can be seen above. In his book, Acluni does not make any assessment of the authenticity of some narrations, merely citing the source in which they appear. We can say that Acluni's approach depends on whether the relevant source has authority and credibility. He left these and similar items here as proof that there was not much more to say.

Acluni cites Ibn Kemalpaşa's book, El-Erbain, as the source of the hadith. Ibn Kemalpaşa was the Grand Mufti of Yavuz Sultan Selim. There is a 900-year gap between him and the Prophet. This alone is one of the greatest proofs of how unfounded the claim is.
