The majority is not the measure of truth, right, or reality. Truth and justice gain value not according to mere crowds or their historical origins, but according to their source. The following verses provide the greatest proof that phrases like "everyone says so" or "it's been done this way for years" actually hold no meaning in the eyes of the Quran. It should not be forgotten that even prophets, in their time, stood alone against the majority and struggled against it.
And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah's Path.
They follow nothing but conjectures, and they do nothing but lie.
And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly.
The idea that everyone will become Muslim one day, or that someone will make everyone Muslim one day, is also seen to be contrary to the Quran by the verse above.
And most of them do not believe in Allah unless they associate others.
This verse provides evidence that the majority of the billions of Muslims worldwide harbor polytheism hidden within their faith.
It should also be known that throughout human history, the majority has always sided, and will always side, with what is inferior, bad, and worthless.
Have they not travelled through the earth and seen what was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than them and mightier in strength, and in the traces (they have left behind them) in the land, yet all that they used to earn availed them not.
Did you not think of those who went forth from their homes in thousands, fearing death? Allah said to them, "Die". And then He restored them to life. Truly, Allah is full of Bounty to mankind, but most men thank not.
"And I have followed the religion of my fathers, - Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob)], and never could we attribute any partners whatsoever to Allah. This is from the Grace of Allah to us and to mankind, but most men thank not.
Allah, it is He Who has made the night for you that you may rest therein and the day for you to see. Truly, Allah is full of Bounty to mankind, yet most of mankind give no thanks.
So this day We shall deliver your (dead) body (out from the sea) that you may be a sign to those who come after you! And verily, many among mankind are heedless of Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.).
So is one who [stands] upon a clear evidence from his Lord [like the aforementioned]? And a witness from Him follows it, and before it was the Scripture of Moses to lead and as mercy. Those [believers in the former revelations] believe in the Qur'an. But whoever disbelieves in it from the [various] factions - the Fire is his promised destination. So be not in doubt about it. Indeed, it is the truth from your Lord, but most of the people do not believe.
You worship not besides Him except [mere] names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. Legislation is not but for Allah. He has commanded that you worship not except Him. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know.
So set you your face towards the religion of pure Islamic Monotheism Hanifa (worship none but Allah Alone) Allah's Fitrah (i.e. Allah's Islamic Monotheism), with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalq-illah (i.e. the Religion of Allah Islamic Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but most of men know not.
Numbers are not the measure of power; majority is not the measure of truth.
Allah has certainly helped you in many situations, and on the day of Hunayn, when your great number impressed you, but it did not avail you in any way, and the earth became narrow for you in spite of its expanse, whereupon you turned your backs [to flee].
The deceptive nature of excessive boasting is illustrated in a cautionary tale and a universal principle in this verse of the Quran:
Say: "Not equal are the bad things(Al-Khabith) and the good things(At-Taiyib), even though the abundance of the bad may please you. " So have Taqwa(wary) of Allah, O men of understanding in order that you may be successful.
The Quran desires a society with strong influence, not one with a large population. In other words, the Quran emphasizes quality (characteristics) over quantity (number) when it comes to human beings.
The Quran portrays the act of emphasizing population size, boasting about it, and making it a matter of competition—in other words, excessive population growth—as a manifestation of idolatry and explicitly condemns it.
(O disbelievers) if you ask for a judgement, now has the judgement come unto you and if you cease (to do wrong), it will be better for you, and if you return (to the attack), so shall We return, and your forces will be of no avail to you, however numerous it be, and verily, Allah is with the believers.
Here, quality is emphasized over numerical majority. Faith is a qualitative value, not a numerical value.
The Quran views humanity as the being entrusted with the greatest responsibility, and therefore seeks capable, productive, and active individuals. It is inconceivable that masses of people who are defined as 'human' merely by photographs and identity cards could be the responsible beings who fulfill the Quran's ideal of 'bearing the trust'.
