"The following names counted among the Esma'ül Hüsna are those that are accepted not as direct names of Allah, but as His names in an indirect way(verb or adjective)."

 

Al-Kafi

 

It means "the being who suffices His servant in a unique and peerless way" or "the one who is sufficient for everything."

 

(39:36)

Is not Allah Sufficient for His servant? Yet they try to frighten you with those besides Him! And whom Allah sends astray, for him there will be no guide.

 

In the verse, those who attempt to frighten the Prophet are the polytheists. Our Lord gives him the message, "I am sufficient for you against them." We learn that the elements with which the polytheists frightened the Prophet were not "things" but literally "people." Because in the verse, the pronoun “ellezine,” which is used for rational beings, is used. This means that the polytheists were frightening the Messenger of Allah not with their idols, but with people to whom they attributed divine power.

 

Al-Faliq

 

It means the one who splits and brings forth, who sows the seed of the tree of existence, who brings out the tree of existence from within by splitting that seed, who actually manifests the potential within a task, the one who is unique and peerless, absolute and infinite in this work.

 

(6:95)

Indeed it is Allah Who splits the grain and the seed; it is He Who brings forth living from the dead, and it is He Who brings forth dead from the living; such is Allah; so where are you reverting?

 

Al-Muntaqim

 

It means the being who possesses the quality of making one taste the pain of what they have done.

 

(32:22)

And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord; then he turns away from them? Indeed We, from the criminals, will take retribution.

 

Allah's revenge must never be confused with the revenge of servants. Allah does not suffer harm from anyone's actions that He would seek vengeance. Allah's revenge manifests more regarding the rights of servants over each other than His own right over them. The Quran does not impose a worldly punishment on one who denies, is in hypocrisy, does not pray, or does not fast. But it imposes a worldly punishment on one who commits murder or adultery.

 

Allah's revenge is His drowning of the oppressors in the oppression they committed. Prophet Abraham against Nimrod is Allah's revenge. Prophet Moses against Pharaoh is Allah's revenge. Allah made the people of Noah, who exceeded the limits, taste the pain of what they did with the flood. Likewise, His drowning of Pharaoh and his people in water is His making them taste the pain of what they did.

 

Moreover, no other living being has inflicted the oppression and brutality upon humans that humans have. Man has suffered heavy pain at the hands of his own kind. Therefore, just as heaven is not free, hell is not unnecessary. This is a requirement of His supreme justice. Justice is not treating the one who denies the truth and the one who confirms it the same way. Allah’s promise of reward and punishment is true. Undoubtedly, just as Allah’s mercy encompasses everything, it has also encompassed His revenge. Nevertheless, man should also know this attribute of Allah. He should know it so that no one thinks what they have done will go unpunished.

 

Allah, the infinite source of mercy, did not wish to take a name expressing revenge as a direct name for His essence. He placed a distance between His essence and revenge. This distance is represented by the particle “zu” (possessor) in the form "Zu'ntikam". For names express stability and continuity. Whereas Allah’s wish is for revenge not to be stable and continuous. Along with this, the name Muntekim is not absolute but a restricted (muqayyad) name that manifests only in specific events, places, and times. Furthermore, it appears in the plural form as "Muntekimun", which further lightens its effect as a name.

 

Al-Mursil

 

It means the one who dispatches and sends, the unique and peerless sender, the one who directs whatever He wishes in whichever direction He wishes.

 

(44:4-6)

4. Whereon every wise command is made clear

5. A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of apostles), 

6. (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.

 

Al-Munzir

 

It means the one who warns people from time to time on matters that will harm them.

 

(44:2-3)

2. I swear by the Book that makes manifest (the truth).

3. We have indeed sent it down in a blessed night – indeed it is We Who warn.

 

 

As-Sadiq

 

It means the absolute truth, uniquely and peerlessly honest, the one whose word, deed, and promise are always true.

 

(6:146)

And to those who are Jews We prohibited every animal of uncloven hoof; and of the cattle and the sheep We prohibited to them their fat, except what adheres to their backs or the entrails or what is joined with bone. [By] that We repaid them for their injustice. And indeed, We are truthful.

 

Al-Kafil

 

It means the one who is a guarantor for His servant, the one who is made a guarantor by His servants, the one who provides absolute assurance and in whose name the highest assurances are given, the one who assumes and assigns responsibility. In the verse, it is not attributed directly as "Allah is the Guarantor," but indirectly as an action of His servants attributed to Allah.

 

(16:91)

And fulfill the covenant of Allah when you have made a covenant, and do not break the oaths after making them fast, and you have indeed made Allah a surety for you; surely Allah knows what you do.

 

Al-Qa'im

 

"Qa’im" used for Allah carries a metaphorical meaning. Allah is absolutely and infinitely constant. It carries the meaning of being always at the head of His work, overseeing His work perfectly without neglect, and being constantly at His task.

 

(13:33)

Is then He (Allah) Who takes charge (guards, maintains, provides,watch over etc.) of every person(soul) and knows all that he has earned ? Yet they ascribe partners to Allah. Say: "Name them! Is it that you will inform Him of something He knows not in the earth or is it (just) a show of false words." Nay! To those who disbelieve, their plotting is made fairseeming, and they have been hindered from the Right Path, and whom Allah sends astray, for him, there is no guide.
