AL-KHALLAQ

Khallaq, meaning "the One who continuously and perfectly creates," appears in the Quran in two places. Hallak means "the one who always creates perfectly, who makes creation His business, and who never tires of creating." The name Khallaq emphasizes continuity.

(36:77)

77. Does not man see that We have created him from Nutfah (mixed male and female discharge semen drops-zygote). Yet behold! He (stands forth) as an open opponent.

78. And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"

79. Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing."

80. [It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite.

81. Is not He who created the heavens and the earth able to create the like of them? Yes indeed!

He is the All-Creator, the All-Knowing.

Allah is the All-Creating, The Supreme Creator. Man should not become arrogant assuming that Allah will not create someone like himself or better. Just as Allah is capable of creating other beings like man, He is also capable of creating better ones. It is emphasized in the preceding verses that He is the One who will resurrect him after death, just as He created him the first time, and that He knows all forms of creation.

(15:85-86)

85. We did not create the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them except with consummate wisdom, and indeed the Hour is bound to come. So forbear with a graceful forbearance.

86. Indeed your Lord is the All-Creator, the All-Knowing.

If man truly believes that Allah is the All-Creating, he will never lose hope in the face of unbelievers. For one should know that within the ever-new manifestations of Allah's name Al-Khallaq (the Supreme Creator), there lie many glad tidings and beauties awaiting him.

The Analogy of Creation

To better understand these names, imagine an artist creating a masterpiece (like a sculpture). Each name represents a specific stage or aspect of the divine creative process:

Al-Khaliq (The Planner / The Proportioneer): The artist deciding to create the piece and determining all its exact dimensions, measurements, and plans in their mind.

Al-Fatir (The Initiator): Taking the first step, breaking the raw material (like marble) for the first time, and initiating the entire process of existence.

Al-Bari (The Maker / The Refiner): Ensuring all parts are harmonious and flawless, smoothing out the imperfections, and bringing the statue into a well-proportioned form.

Al-Musawwir (The Designer): Giving the statue its final facial features, colors, and distinct characteristics, making it recognizable and unique in appearance.

Al-Badi’ (The Unique Innovator/ The Orginator): Ensuring that this statue is created in a style never seen before in the world—completely original, without any prior model or example.

Al-Khallaq (The Continuous Creator/ The Supreme Creator): The fact that the Artist does not perform this art just once, but continuously creates thousands of different types and forms at every single moment.
